PLAYERS: You don’t need a “trainer” to get better, a partner to go shoot, or a friend to lift. Take initiative & maximize your offseason.
PLAYERS: Your summer goals: 1) Add 5-10 lbs of muscle 2) Advance your skills 3) Improve your shot 4) Get faster 5) HAVE FUN!
PLAYERS: Make sure you are consistently seen by your coach and, most importantly, your teammates, at workouts throughout the summer.
PLAYERS: Working with individual trainers is good ONLY IF it is in addition to your team’s workouts. Never miss schedule team functions.
PLAYERS: When watching the NBA Finals, focus on the good things: 1) Skill level 2) Competitiveness 3) Speed & Strength 4) Offensive Spacing
PLAYERS: Defense is about heart, toughness, lateral speed, & being in a stance. You must be slightly lower than the person you are guarding.
PLAYERS: Every workout/practice you are being judged by your teammates. Every day you either build or lose trust with those who matter most.
PLAYERS: Want to take the day off on the the 4th? Do twice the work on the 3rd. You have to earn your days off.
PLAYERS: Coaches play favorites; they favor those who: *Are TOUGH *Improve in the offseason *Defend *Rebound *Take care of the ball *Buy-in
PLAYERS: The relationships you build through the game will be valuable for you for the rest of your life. Make friends & be a good teammate.
